Dewsbury Evangelical Church’s Ministry Trainee Scheme

Many Christians graduate from University and remain in the cities in which they studied. Meanwhile the nearby towns are crying out for gospel workers to come and join them. Dewsbury Evangelical Church is a thriving, forward-thinking church of about 120 people. We need Christians to join us in our mission to our town.

Dewsbury is in West Yorkshire, close to the cities of Leeds and Bradford. It is a working-class town of 60,000 people. There is a large Muslim population. Areas of natural beauty are on the doorstep. The people are warm and generous. There is poverty and social needs. There are few people who know Jesus.

We have opportunities for service and experience among our existing ministries, including Asian and Muslim outreach, youth and families, asylum seekers and refugees. We have a desire to develop new ministries, such as work among the majority white working classes and older people.

Most of all we want to help you develop in your service of Jesus. We can offer a tailor-made training year suited to your particular gifts and interests.

  • You don’t need to have had any formal theological education
  • You don’t need to have been to University
  • We are looking for a man or a woman 18+
  • You must be passionate about the gospel

We can offer training in-house and through either Yorkshire Training (www.ygp.org.uk/yt.htm) or the Porterbrook Network (www.theporterbrooknetwork.org). We are in a position to offer a small training bursary and accommodation, or are happy to consider other approaches to funding you might like us to think about such as helping you find part-time work.

Interested? Come and visit us to see some of what we do and discuss what a year with us might look like.

We are part of the Yorkshire Gospel Partnership (www.ygp.org.uk) & FIEC (www.fiec.org.uk)
